    Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.

    STIHL Easy2Start™ (E)
The STIHL Easy2Start™ system makes starting STIHL outdoor power tools almost effortless, eliminating the need for a strong pull of the starting cord. This advanced starting system is designed to make starting STIHL products easier. The specific system may vary by model, but in each case, a quick pull overcomes the engine’s compression to minimize the strength and effort required to start. Available on selected products.

    STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ starter grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. The forces which occur at the grip after the first compression stroke are smoothed out.

    IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.

    Purge Pump Primer
The purge pump primer feature enables the user to prime the carburetor with fuel, enabling easier starting. The purge pump primer is designed in a way that the operator cannot flood the machine by priming the carburetor too many times. Flooding the engine is still possible if the choke is not removed after the engine turns over.

    Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.

    STIHL Quickstop®
STIHL chain saws are equipped with a chain stopping system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. It is called a STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the rotation of the chain if activated by the operator’s hand or by inertia if the saw kicks back with sufficient force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, stopping the chain within fractions of a second.

    Ematic™ Lubrication System
The Ematic™ guide bar when used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods. The system works because two ramps, strategically placed in the guide bar rail, help contain the flow of oil and direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links as well as the rivets and driver holes, which in turn can reduce bar oil consumption up to 50%.

Important Information
WARNING! The occurrence called “kickback” can cause serious or fatal injury. Always read the instruction manual carefully before using your saw. STIHL uses a green and yellow color-coding system to help you select a powerhead, bar and chain combination that complies with the kickback requirements of ANSI Standard B175.1 (gasoline-powered saws) and §30 of UL 1662/ ANSI Standard B175.1 (electric chain saws). Ask your STIHL dealer about safe operating procedures and the advantages of the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, STIHL Quickstop® Plus additional chain braking feature (Q), STIHL reduced kickback bars and STIHL low-kickback saw chains.

STIHL recommends the use of green reduced kickback bars and green low kickback chains on all STIHL chain saws.
* The actual listed guide bar length can vary from the effective cutting length depending upon which power head it is installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Greta Top Handle Saw I bought this saw to have a smaller top handle saw to work in trees and also cut smaller brush into fire wood. It is a light weight dependable saw that is very easy to start and use for extended periods of time without fatigue. It does a fine job in smaller size wood and is a good deal for the price. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw for light work Have owned the saw for just a few weeks and use it for small trees, branches, etc. The top handle makes one-hand operation convenient and safe. No problems so far with starting or anything else. April 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Reliable saw for the money I have been using this saw day in and day out now for almost a year and have had little problems with it. As far as cold starting it, pump the primer 2-3 times, choke the back choke and lock the hot start switch to the back. Pull the rope, once it pops move the back choke forward and leave the hot start locked back. 1-2 pulls it will fire right up every time. I did have some problems with it staying running and low power, I checked the spark arrester and it was completely clogged. After I burned off the particulate it has ran fine ever since. Good saw for the money. February 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw for what its worth. As being an arborist, this saw will do its job when you need it. Its light weight and easy to climb with. This saw is perfect when making cuts though smaller logs and limbs. February 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw for the price Great saw for what it is, will get job done. It's not a 200t but I would say it's the next best thing for climbing. I would use this over the 201t. None the lesson great saw for what your gonna pay. January 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great climbing saw A little anemic for topping or limbing hardwoods but has been an amazing saw for 4 years of hard use. I wish I wouldve bought the 200t now but for the money its been great. January 17, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Engine issues I have 7 of the ms 192 chain saws. 4 of them have lost power and idle poorly and dealer says cylinders are scored and not worth fixing. Been disappointed with saw January 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Another Great Stihl Product! I bought this saw after a shoulder injury. Could no longer handle the weight of my old 028 Woodboss. At first I wasn't sure if I'd be pleased with the downsizing in power, but if I keep the chain good and sharp I don't have any problems cutting with it. I mainly cut down hardwood trees up to about 16" in diameter for firewood. This thing handles them like nothing. Had starting problems, at first, but when I started following the owner's manual directions, it started right up. Power to weight ratio is fantastic. This saw is really comfortable to use and easy on the shoulders and back. Get one and you will love it. December 18, 2013
